Lakewood Township School District

Explore reported New Jersey school spending, User-Friendly Budgets, and School Performance Reports with original NJ DOE and NCES sources. Directory identities and agency status are from NCES 2023–24, not a current operating-status certification. Audited Taxpayers’ Guide to Education Spending actuals run 2018–19 to 2023–24, certified from district ACFRs, and are kept strictly apart from budgeted figures: proposed line-item appropriations, revenues by source, fund balance and the school tax levy and rates are 2025–26, and state school aid notices cover FY2025 to FY2027. The school tax surface publishes the general fund levy and the total levy including debt service as separate measures; a regional district levies across several municipalities at a different rate in each, so its district-wide rate is withheld and the per-municipality apportionment is shown instead, and rates belonging to different districts are never added together. Most New Jersey districts hold no public vote on the school budget. Administrator contracts are published as aggregates only. enrollment, student groups, assessments, growth, graduation, programmes, attendance, discipline and staffing come from the 2024–25 School Performance Reports statewide database, with trends back to 2020–21 where New Jersey publishes the same definition. Baseline coverage: 595 directory records, 595 TGES audited actual records, 595 User-Friendly Budget line-item files, and 2,418 school profiles. New Jersey publishes a State-methodology and a federal graduation rate on different definitions; both are shown, labelled, and never combined. 2024–25 NJSLA ELA and Math proficiency and four-year graduation are also shown for nine New Jersey student groups (economically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, multilingual learners and six race or ethnicity groups) with the state’s own labels; each is the state’s figure for that group, groups are not ranked, and no difference between groups is calculated or presented as a finding. College enrollment of graduates comes from the separate NJ DOE postsecondary file (2023–24 edition, National Student Clearinghouse matches): fall enrollment for the Classes of 2020 to 2024 and 16-month enrollment for the Classes of 2019 to 2023, each shown as the range New Jersey publishes and dated by the year the class graduated. New Jersey withholds any figure covering fewer than 10 students, or 20 for ESSA measures, and rounds away proficiency below 10%. Withheld figures do not mean zero: they are absent here rather than shown as a zero or an estimate. Non-operating and sending/receiving districts enroll no students of their own, so per-pupil, staffing and outcome measures are withheld for them; county special services districts and educational services commissions have their students’ results reported under the districts that send them. Each field retains its source period. New Jersey tax grievance and civic audit packs are unavailable.

It includes an estimate of the district’s share of state-paid school-construction debt service. Sent pupils and their associated costs are included for both sending and receiving districts, so totals must not be summed across districts. NJDOE says 2023-24 actual expenditure data originate from ACFRs certified by district public-school accountants; this field does not assert every underlying category was independently audited.

New Jersey withholds a group's figure when fewer than 10 students in the group had valid scores, rounds away a proficiency rate below 10%, and withholds a second group's figure when publishing it would reveal a smaller withheld group. A withheld figure is absent here, never shown as zero or estimated.

46.2%. NJ DOE postsecondary enrollment rate: the share of this district's or school's high school graduates who enrolled in any two- or four-year college or university within 16 months of graduating. The period shown is the school year the class graduated. New Jersey publishes this rate as a range: the lower bound is the share of graduates the National Student Clearinghouse matched to a college or university enrollment, and the upper bound divides the same matches by 97% of the graduating class to allow for graduates the Clearinghouse could not match. Both ends are shown exactly as New Jersey published them. New Jersey withholds the rate where fewer than 10 graduates were reported. Where the label names a student group, the figure describes only that group (groups are New Jersey's own: economically disadvantaged students are those eligible for free or reduced-price meals as reported to NJ SMART; students with disabilities have an Individualized Education Program; multilingual learners are English learners; race and ethnicity are as reported by the district, and New Jersey reports Asian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students as one group); it is not a comparison with any other group.

Audited financial summary (AudSum) (not collected in NJ)
New Jersey collects a full audited financial summary from every district, but AudSum is published only inside the NJ DOE Homeroom portal, which requires a district login. There is no public download, so no district's audited detail beyond the Taxpayers' Guide indicators can be shown here.
Teacher contract and salary guide (not collected in NJ)
New Jersey keeps no central repository of school district collective bargaining agreements. Contracts and salary guides are held by each district and its local association, so no statewide salary-guide figure exists to publish for any district.
Payroll for all school district employees (not collected in NJ)
New Jersey's state transparency centre excludes local school district payroll; it covers state and authority employees only. The only district payroll the state publishes is the User-Friendly Budget list of employees over $75,000 outside a bargaining unit, which is reported by districts themselves.
User-Friendly Budget, 2026–27 (not collected in NJ)
NJ DOE has not posted a 2026–27 User-Friendly Budget for this district. Its 2026–27 User-Friendly Budgets page states: "Users should be aware that user-friendly budget data for Ocean County’s Lakewood Township school district is not being posted for the current fiscal year; please contact the NJDOE Public Information Office for additional information." So no 2026–27 budget, school tax levy, revenue, fund balance, per-pupil cost or administrator salary figure exists to show. The absence is in the state's publication; it is not a zero.
Updated 28 September 2026: no 2026–27 User-Friendly Budget for Lakewood Township
Updated 28 September 2026: this page now reports New Jersey's 2026–27 User-Friendly Budget, and NJ DOE has not posted one for Lakewood Township. Its 2026–27 User-Friendly Budgets page states: "Users should be aware that user-friendly budget data for Ocean County’s Lakewood Township school district is not being posted for the current fiscal year; please contact the NJDOE Public Information Office for additional information." None of the 2026–27 files (appropriations, revenues, estimated tax rate, recapitulation of balances, per-pupil cost and administrative salaries) has a row for NJ DOE district 29-2520. Until this update the page showed Lakewood Township's 2025–26 User-Friendly Budget: its school tax levy and rates, budgeted revenues and state aid, fund balances, per-pupil costs, administrator contract totals and line-item appropriations. Those figures have been removed rather than shown beside other districts' 2026–27 figures; the 2025–26 budget remains on NJ DOE's 2025–26 User-Friendly Budgets page. The proposed net expenditures in this page's summary are the district directory's figure from that 2025–26 budget and are labelled with that year. The absence is NJ DOE's: it is not a zero budget or a zero tax levy. Audited spending from the Taxpayers' Guide to Education Spending and the state aid notices on this page are not affected.
